A bacterium was able to produce an extracellular guanine deaminase catalyzing be conversion of guanine to xanthine by the demination among purine compounds. The morphological , cultural and bichemical examinations were made and discussed through
the
microscopic shape and size, motility, respiration patterns, staining reaction, carbohydrate-assimilation, protein-degradation, presence of respiratory enzymes, synthesis of odour component, and production of pigments. As the results obtained, the
isolate presented some typical characteristics of Pseudomonas such as Gram-positive reaction, aerobic respiration, coccobacilli-shape, nonspore-formation and positive reaction in catalase activity, thereby being identified gunus Pseudomonas and
named
Pseudomonas sp. YY-64.
